Cricket Vs Baseball

The following link claims that the fastest baseball is about 100miles which is about the fastest cricket ball.

Assuming the weight difference of a baseball & a cricket ball does not effect the speed of delivery, how come the run-up in cricket does not help player to beat the speeds of the ball which is simply thrown ? Any thoughts?

Because you roll your arm to deliver a cricket ball which takes off speed. Run up to the crease and deliver the cricket ball like a Baseball and you will see the difference.
May the Fries be with you!

Why should there be restrictions about the way they bowl anyway?

Thats the way the game has evolved. in fact initially bowling was done underarm. The overarm action was developed by ladies in england who could not bowl underarm due those huges dresses (?) they used to wear back then. Bowling is not everybody's cup of tea. Its the toughest of the skills required to play the game, esp. fast bowling.
People are crazy, at times are strange. I am locked-in tight, I am out of range.
I used to care, but things have changed.

A cricket ball and baseball have approximately the same size and weight. The Cricket ball is substantially harder to endure the increased wear and tear of hitting the pitch.

The run up is to get a rythym for the delivery stride. Remember the ball is 'bowled' with a straight arm as opposed to the thrown pitch in baseball, and that it has to travel the length of the pitch and usually bounce before it reaches the batsman at 100mph.

To make it difficult and worthy of merit and respect?
