I feel that all humans should realise and ponder over, as early as possible in their life, and remember as often as possible, until their time of becoming lifeless, the following truths, facts, enigmas and anomalies.

1.No human( for that matter no living creature ) is able to choose his or

her parents, place of birth, the so called mother tongue, religion(Of course,

Hindu Religious Scriptures and even Buddhist Religious Scriptures and

folk lore mention such ability in the case of some so called "arrived"

or "great" souls). Our mother tongue, relgion originally iare not out of our

choice and the language we will be using in our life after our birth and our

religion during our life depends on the following factors/facts:

A.Whether our religion/society/Government permits us to act us per our

free will or forces us to stick to a particular religion or language

B.Whether we are forced or lured to change our religion/language

2.No religion could give any plausible/convincing reason as to why some children are born with deformities( Only Hindu Religion explains it on the theory of misdeeds/sins committed in earlier birth; but, even that religion cannot convincingly explain as to why any soul during its first birth or form as human, had the scope or neccessity to commit a sin or misdeed,to be borne as a deformed baby.

3.Why some devout as well as fanatic believers/adherents get killed in stampedes/infernos at the places deemed to be highly sacred by their respective religions

4.Why some places, even though, inhabited by adherents of their particular religion only(with no alibi to find fault with adherents of other religion or religions staying in that village or city or country) are devastated/destroyed by natual catastrophies/calamities

5.Why adherents of the same relgion(for that matter even sons of same parents) fight among themselves and kill each other?

5.In the case of Christianity, what is the answer to the question"If the God is Omniscient, why did he not prevent Eve from falling prey to the machinations of Satan in the form of a Serpent?"

Do'nt the above points prove that no religion/language can claim superiority, and only human weaknesses like ANGER/ENVY/JEALOUSY/GREED/LUST ARE THE CAUSES OF AGONIES/PAINS/TRIALS/TRIBULATIONS OF HUMANS, AND ANY WAY NO LIVING CREATURE CAN ESCAPE NATURAL DEATH, EVENTHOUGH SOME DISEASES ARE APPEARING TO BE PREVENTABLE/CURABLE WITH MEDICAL DISCOVERIES AND INVENTIONS (OFCOURSE SOME OF THEM ARE NEITHER PERMANENT NOR WITHOUT SIDE=EFFECTS)

TO MAKE THIS WORLD HAPPY OR ATLEAST LESS PAINFUL. ALL OF US SHOULD LIVE WITH THE MOTTO "LET US BE HELPFUL TO EACH OTHER TO THE UTMOST EXTENT, AND IF WE CANNOT HELP OTHERS, THE LEAST WE CAN DO IS TO BE UNHARMFUL TO OTHERS"

Jamaat threat to stop Sania game

Hyderabad, Sept. 16: The hardline Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind has threatened to prevent tennis ace Sania Mirza from playing in the Sunfeast Open tournament beginning in Kolkata on Monday if she does not wear “proper clothes” on court.

“What she wears offends Islam,” the Jamaat’s chief Siddiqullah Chowdhry said of her on-court dress. “She will be stopped from playing” if she doesn’t adhere to the Islamic dress code, he said....

sensational lies by DC...?
Indian Express and Times of India wrote:KOLKATA: Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza will receive extra security after an Islamic group opposed to her on-court dress threatened to stop her from playing in next week's WTA event, police said on Friday.

Muslim clergymen have denounced the 18-year-old player for wearing skimpy skirts and colourful sleeveless tops on court, which they say are un-Islamic.

.
.
Mirza has refused to be drawn on the controversy over her clothes and is scheduled to play in Kolkata beginning on Monday, despite the call by a powerful Islamic group to stop her.

The group, Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind, has warned that its members would try to prevent Mirza from playing if she did not wear "proper clothes."

"What she wears offends Islam. She will be stopped from playing if she doesn't adhere to it," Siddiqullah Chowdhry, the group's chief, told Reuters.

Police are tightening security following the call.

thats a typical response i expected from u...instead of accepting that such a$$holes exist in the society and try to fight them, u tend to blame the media, US, Jews and others.

the danger sign here is not their demand for her to cover up, but their threat to prevent her from playing, meaning, they can get physical...

sania was one great ambassador of indian secularism and for projecting the modern, liberal face of the community. and when she is attacked by some $hitheads, u blame the media instead.

its the main reason for the bad image problem - refusal to look inwards and accept some blame. only learned intellectuals and few others seem to do that and the rest of the public maintains a studied silence. if questioned, yr kinda response is what that comes. of corz, the secular politicians wont say anything.

with leaders like those u have, u do not need enemies. i can think of innumerable cliches: aa bail mujhe maar, apne paier pe kulhadi marna.....etc etc.

...and btw, yr nasty comment abt sania also shows u too agree with those $hitheads. why am i not surprised?

Shitheads are the ones who encourage people to eat shit..like BJP/VHP/RSS who want all the Hindus to eat Cow dung and crink cow urine(go mootaram),I am naot saying this please vist the following links..

http://www1.timesofindia.indiatimes.com ... 034529.cms

Coming to the matter of the news conference there is no authencitcity in thos ereports, the person who gave thos estatements was in noway the represntative of the Jamaat, but the bottom line is that whatever Sania Mirza wears is definitely not allowed in Islam, or for that matter in anyother religion, let me know if there is religion that allows or encourages that kinda dress..It seems more like a case of staged press conference by a strugglilng journalist to make a quick fame for himself which seems to be the case more often than not, nothing is going to happens these statemnts are only for the press becuase no one has any authority over anybody else if somebody wants to go astray its his/her own wish.

But there are exceptions VHP/RSS/ShvSena have complete control over Hindus not only from a religious point of view but also from a cultural perspective ,else what couold justify the stopping of Valentine day clebrations by those scum bags..

the chap who said it on TV was a member of that society and i doubt if he can shoot of his mouth in public without any tacit blessings frm his superiors. what we see since yestday night is just Operation Save-Face when they found that their statements was a PR disaster. u must have heard the following in the media b4: "i have been misquoted...", "thats not what iu meant.." etc etc :D u must be really naive to believe that they didnt say it in reality.
Xeno wrote:but the bottom line is that whatever Sania Mirza wears is definitely not allowed in Islam, or for that matter in anyother religion, let me know if there is religion that allows or encourages that kinda dress..
i know but why bring religion into it...its her choice...she's not going to pray dressed that way and u definitely cant play hard tennis in a burqa...

sez who? they are just politicians who use religion to whip up a frenzy....and like i said b4, no hindu is expected to follow any half arsed proclamations of any religious leader. there is no such thing as a single religious authority.

dude, now your religion should tell u what to wear , how to screw, how to eat too ? It should be easy to understand that what these shitholes are doing to Sania is just a grab at their 15 minutes of fame at the cost of someone who slogged her ass to reach where she is today. If you are really that proud of your religion, you should stand by her rather than asking her to mask herself in purdah and play her game. why, when she trips over the costume and loses her points, would your prayers redeem them for her ? :D

this issue can be closed now since the 'silent n sensible majority' i was talking abt have spoken in support of Sania:

ToI wrote:RAIPUR: Her sports attire may have annoyed some Muslim religious leaders but Indian tennis star Sania Mirza is still the role model that Chhattisgarh's Islamic seminaries are looking to introduce in their books.

Khan said the protests raised by fundamentalists was unwarranted. "She is representing the country and making India proud through her extraordinary talents; she is the perfect role model for new generation Muslims," he said. "Advocates of Islam want disciplined and covered dress for women but Sania is a professional and an exception. We should rise above religion in this."

I suppose whatever I am saying is slightly off-topic, and apologies to everyone here...but somehow this dressing issue is a very irritating issue which keeps coming back, and I am not talking only about Sania.

Referring to the quote here:

"Advocates of Islam want disciplined and covered dress for women...

Social guardians, religious leaders, whoever else, will always advocate how women are supposed to dress. And for most parts, they will give a clean chit to men. No one has any problems that men wear shorts when they play tennis, or trunks when they swim...but they have a lot of problems if women wear short skirts, swimsuits, trousers, etc.  A couple of months earlier, certain so-called social guardians even hinted (or maybe more than hinted) that women who dress 'bold'ly are actually inviting rape. :? :?

Somehow, all social dressing rules/taboos seem to be applicable to women only...very confusing....and irritating.

At the cost of sounding like an advocate...

Men do not (generally) get their modesty assaulted. They are very capable of defending their izzat.

It would be very disrespectful to call women 'objects', but a woman who is liberal vis-a-vis the amount of cleavage she shows, becomes just that: an object of fascination/lust/etc.

Assume that 97% of guys would look at such a woman and do nothing except think about her or make a comment/flirt. But the remaining 3% would have more devilish ideas in their heads, and some of them would be crazy enough to, say, follow the woman and do something stupid/nasty.

Women can look wildly attractive without obliging us drooling guys with more and more to see. We have to place a limit somewhere, and it is not to take away the freedom of women, but for their own safety (perceived).

There are a few more reasons, but this is the most obvious one. Btw, this has nothing to do with soprtswomen, etc, who have to wear skirts and such.

So, is it a matter of - if you are not physically powerful enough, you would better cover yourself so that men do not feel 'tempted' to 'assault your modesty'?

Sharjeel wrote:It would be very disrespectful to call women 'objects', but a woman who is liberal vis-a-vis the amount of cleavage she shows, becomes just that: an object of fascination/lust/etc.

First thing first, I don't think being 'liberal' is directly proportional to the amount of cleavage shown...all such 'liberal' persons might be completely outdated in their thought process.

Secondly, when anyone dresses to attract, she should be ready for the others drooling at her. Feigning or actually getting irritated because otehrs are staring at her is ridiculous.

But, to say that that person should be ready for being molested, or teased to the extent of her modesty being threatened, is carrying things a bit too far, or rather, taking the responsibility and fault away from the actual culprit.

Sharjeel wrote: But the remaining 3% would have more devilish ideas in their heads, and some of them would be crazy enough to, say, follow the woman and do something stupid/nasty.

So, is a woman supposed to take responsibility so that a man doesn't behave like an animal?

Sharjeel wrote:We have to place a limit somewhere, and it is not to take away the freedom of women, but for their own safety (perceived).

So, why is the limit put only on women?

Why isn't there a limit on how far a man can go? Or rather, why aren't men supposed to practise a restraint on themselves?

If women dressing in a certain way can prevent or reduce such assault on modesty, who do we still have such cases in pretty conservative households and why are these assaulters, in many cases, a neighbour or a close relative?

What most men don't realize is that when they try to make women behave in a certain way with reasons like 'for their own safety', 'they should not tiltillate men', etc., they are endorsing the fact that men are so weak that they cannot control their 'urges', and women should not only control their own but also take responsibility for men. Such men, seriously need to grow up and learn to vent their frustrations elsewhere.

Because I sincerely believe that not all men are like them. Hopefully I am correct.

Well,I feel both sherry and betty are right to an extent :?

I suppose one's religion/society/caste/habitat/geographical location plays some part in dictating what dress one should wear.but in most cases we see that it is the female gender who follow those diktats closely.

hence you can see malayali women wearing no sarees, telugu women wearing sarees, goan ladies wearing gowns etc. Religion-wise,both christians & parsis wear gowns whereas hindu ladies stick to sarees & muslims to burkhas.

coming to the males, though there are some rules for dresscodes (like Lungi for tamilians, dhotis for maharashtrians etc) but i suppose with the passage of time, this has become obsolete among the males.

Earlier, when males were seen as the working class and hence should wear appropriate clothes & women should be restricted to households, hence conservative clothes, was the odd norm,if one may say so.But now whence the 'In-house-out-of-house' stigma has changed and both sexes are working out,the dresscode has'nt evolved at the same pace.

When betty says that women should be responsible so that men do not outrage her modesty, well, man indeed is an animal and one can't say with a damned assurance what transpires in those perverted minds.A man intent on outraging the modesty of a woman will do so even if she's fully clothed, just that bit of 'skin-show' will entice him more so.

Good to know that you think that women can still be liberal by the not showing their cleavage..

Bringing the topic back to where the likes of CAD - MM raised their objection. The cover up part.

Whats so stiffling dude.

Why did you (and the media) not come playing the Religion card when Sanias Parents went for Hajj ?

Hajj (A Muslim Pilgrimage).

-- They should not have gone when their child was playing one of the first biggest tournament of her life.

-- What is Hajj compared to such great acheivements.

Nay but you chose to stay silent. And come up braying when someone asks her to cover up.

Its simple logic dude.

Every Indian is proud of Sania acheiving the standards she has reached.

She is free to be an ambassdor for the country.

But if she intends to be an ambassdor for the relegion (or the media intends to portray her as role model for other muslims), mmm now thats where it gets murky.

If you want to be an ambassdor for religion, then you will have to be atleast a basic adherent and "Purdah" / "hijaab" is one of them basic rules.

Do what you want its your personal life, practice what you want again its your personal life, but if you intend to preach then you will have to adhere to the basic principles of what you preach. Final.

To the interesting discussion about morality and Male and female, its for another thread another place.
