Anyone interested in building english vocabulary?

by satishgoda » Mon Dec 13, 2004 4:19 pm

Hi Folks.

During the weekend I developed a Vocabulary Browsing Center to browse word-lists available in the public domain and for non commercial use. I thought some of you might find it useful, especially those preparing for GRE and related exams.

Here is the link. Vocab Center

Enjoy. Comments and suggestions are very welcome.

Thank you Der Schakal. If there are any features that you'd like to see on the website, please suggest. i want to gather requirements from the user and accordingly steer my project. Time permitting, I might even develop a cross-platform desktop application. So once again I urge you to share ideas.

My list of features:

1. User sessions to store browse history [kinda like playlists].

2. Addition of new definitions to the database. [ Right now everything is text files, but I'm going to change that.]

3. Search feature.

etc.,

have fun using it for your preparation.

Brilliant idea!

But please get the meanings right. Some of the words have wrong meanings.

Thanks Sharjeel.

Regarding the wrong meanings, I downloaded the wordlists from various sources and I haven't had time to proof read all of them. I will keep the wordlists upgraded as and when possible.

added another mirror

by satishgoda » Mon Dec 13, 2004 10:42 pm

Hi Folks.

I have added another mirror site.

Image. <--- Mirror

I changed the name from "Vocabulary Center" to "Word List Browser", to avoid conflict with an existing webpage with a similar name.

Welllllllll how abt...Arranging them according to the no. of alphabets in the word? that wld reduce the length of the page drastically.

Or else if ^ seems time consuming (for the person browsing) then the letters cld be arranged from left to right also...
