The Quran may be flexible regarding science, but the Muslim clergy (mullas) are not. In many Islamic schools and madarassas, you'll find that they still teach that the sun revolves round the earth. Refer to one of Taslima Nasreen's articles where she writes about this. She's been issued a fatwa for speaking out (a punishment that was meted out centuries ago to Christians with similar attitudes). By the way, I got a lot of information about this from a (Muslim) Yemeni friend who is very broad-minded and religious. So I'm not reading off some anti-Islam site or some ranting by xyz on the Internet. All I want to say is if you want to make a point regarding what the Quran says, go ahead and do it. But your posts sounded like you were making comparisons between religions and I just wanted to bring to the open some facts that you needed to know.
Never was tryng to compare religions. If you read my posts, you will notice that I was also talking about medieval Europe an the church of that time.

The post I made was concerning the church's disapproval of science at that period of time. The mullahs and other islamic fundamentalists you see around, are our very own version of the churches of medieval europe.

I am not trying to sell the Quran. There are certain limits to anything, and I will definitely not become a PR for the Quran, or any other thing in Islam. It was for argument sake; I can only comment authoritatively on the Quran as I have read it. I will definitely read the other holy books, and then maybe I can use their words too.

I know that comparison of religions was not your overall theme or inlying message. Its just that as threads keep growing in an active topic, sometimes people have the tendency to pick information from anywhere (its happened with me a few times too) or make assumptions. Moreover, I said your posts sounded like; I never said your posts were aimed at comparison. There is a difference here. Anyway I have to go now... I'll send you a private message after I get back from church, just check it 8)

thats right....

but the only difference in the synchronisation is that we are on two opposite sides of the globe.

While I am in my Islamomania phase, I decided to research what this religion has to say about the origin of species. I understand that I am in a very endangered phase and I know this is only going to fuel my obsessiveness about this religion and I am going to make my final decision to succumb to its appeal. Thank you Mayavi and now HP too (i've just read his posts) for the igniting the curiosity of a person who is known to have OCD. And thank you white people for these wonderful gifts of OCD and inferiority complex.

Anywho, here are some articles that concentrate on this topic:

A couple of articles from this collection have left my mind numb.
