among Indian comedy actors, i rate Kamal Hasan high! his comedy is totally dialog oriented and has no facial contortions, screaming and over acting that characterizes most Indian comedy. u have to concentrate on the dialog to catch the humor in his films.

sadly the telugu dubbed versions of his films lose all the comic effect coz of bad translation of the original tamil jokes...:(

brahmanandam is very good.

but in some movies he drives me nuts with his cheap comedy

money, kshanakshanam, anaganaga oka roju, yamaleela are my favs.recently in manmadhudu and santhosham he is the best.

santhosham:

bm:ikkadiki trains doosuku vastayantara sir.

nag: ikkadiki trains raavatam entandi?

bm: adenandi flightlu buildings loki vellaga lenidi, trains ikkadiki raakoodada

nag: em chestarandi meeru

bm: thintu untanu sir

and with kota: meedi body na iron rod aa? ee vayasuloney ila unnaru ante aa vayasulo chinchesi untaaru

and he has to repeat it several times. only brahmandam can do that kind of expressions. i have watched it 100 times. i laughed the same way on the 1st time and even the 100th time.

manmadhudu:

nag: meedi love marriageaa? mundu evaru love chesaru?

bm: mundu aavida love chesindi, taruvatha nenu cheyyalsi vachindi.

damn good.

(i know only people who watched those movies will understand what i am talking about, sorry to others  )

Phoren waale : Peter Sellers, Jack Lemmon, Jim Carrey, Bud Spencer & Terence Hill combos

Hindi waale : Keshto Mukherji, Mehmood, Kishore Kumar, Utpal Dutt, Paresh Rawal & Johnny Lever

Telugu waale : Naaku telugu raadu....whatever happened to that telugu class on the boards?

Favourite comedy scenes :

1. Jack Lemmon as the prince in The Great Race. The entire subplot with the prince was so damn hilarious....especially his laughter.

2. The drama sequence from Jaane bhi Do Yaaron

3. The climax from Golmaal starting from the point Amol Palekar's fake moustache falls off.

4. Keshto Mukherji in Bombay to Goa. The scene where he is pushing the bus had me in splits for almost 10 minutes when I saw it the first time.

5. Paresh Rawal as a wannabe extortionist in HeraPheri....that movie rocked.

I dont remember the other serials, but Flop Show and Dekh bhai Dekh, every episode was full of comedy.

And there was one show, a series made on looking-for-a-bride, the main charecter's name was Y.I.Patel.

One joke in it, I still remember.

y i patel introduces himself to a girl

patel: Hi, Y I Patel

girl: thats ur problem.

she thinks that patel is asking "Why am I Patel?"

And the series, dont remember its name, somebody remind me..

All about a middle class family Wife, husband and 2 children living in a mohalla. The husband/father charecter was soo good and funny. My father used to behave exactly like that.

One joke from that serial:

A road side tv-repair shops slogan

TV, radio, tape-recoder, fridge, washing machine, Satillite, etc will be repaired here.

The lead actor in Mr.Yogi was Mohan Gokhale and not Vikram.

Wagle ki duniya was a good series too. And so were some sunday programmes that were telecast back then - Choti Badi Baatein (about superstitions), Ados Pados (about life in a mumbai chawl) and does anyone remember Jaspal Bhatti's debut series on TV - Ulta Pulta?

Since someone mentioned Didi's comedy show, I went nostalgic on some old English comedy shows they used to show on DD. The Goodies, Sorry, The Lucy Show and Here Comes Lucy. There was one more they aired in the early 90s - Clarence.

And growing up on the humour of Yes Minister & Yes Prime minister was a great experience too.

Finally, does anyone remember Chimanrao? He was the funniest character I ever saw on TV....the series wasn't that popular though.

Did someone forget Sunnnnnil? and that extremely thin black guy in Jayam...can't remember name, he's phunny too.

The best Brahmanandma scene was when he wants the elephant's milk and sings, "Pindukuta, paalu pindukuta" in Rajendra Gajendra and he tries to sell the shit because that is what is in computers!

Lets see, um, that whole train scene in the movie Venky (very recent) I thought that stuff was awesome on his part and that "Thoti" guy, can't remember his name either...anyone?

Will post more on this later

Jaan

Aappu - day tellarinda

That scene is from Appula Apparao, great comedy. It was LB sriram's first movie as dialogue writer and the first dialogue - aappu -day tellarinda - secured the contract for him.

Sunil is another good comedian among contemporary comedians in telugu movie field. I heard that he writes his own jokes, which makes his comedy even better, but unfortunately the directors are not able to utilise his immense talent.

Anyone seen manasantha nuvve?

Chandra mohan to sunil: worai, Intlo emaina paata samanlu unte tecchi boghi mantalo pareyyi

Sunil (referring to chandra mohans mom): Musaldi undi, tecchi pareyyamantara?

'AA okkati Adakku' is also good, it too had the talkin goat joke.

And then rajendra prasads dialogues... Gajjiki leni durada Zaalim lotion ki enduku anta... ROTFLMAO!
